Inside of seven days I have lived in two worlds. The first three days I was floating
in the waves of a crystal sea. Whales spouting air in the distance and paradise
on the shores around me. Practicing ancient mystic movements and breathing
and breathing and breathing air that tastes like Eden. I had lost track of where
I had come from and had no feeling that there was anywhere else. Peace is that
way, when you have it you can't remember what it was like without it. Then I was transported through a tunnel of man-made air and fluorescent light. I recall the sound of CNN blaring blasphemies and eating something that tasted like it was made to taste like something that tastes like food. The tunnel dropped me on the street outside New Orleans airport where I was quickly scooped up by an ally. I was taken into the heart of the city where I am currently hiding. That puts us on day five, since day four was surrendered at the airport. Day five found me in bed listening to phantom busses fly through the bedroom and smelling the deep heady brood of New Orleans air. Dreams of some distant sea surrounded me still…but that was short lived for it is Mardi Gras season here and there are many things that one should do and see. Such things that I have witnessed in the past three days include a tribal belly dance show, a fashion show, potted plants hanging from rod iron balconies dripping drops of their morning watering into sunlit pools on the dark streets of the quarter, and a bar full of chickens dancing the night away to the music of a nude band. A very rocking nude band as well, who we ended up bringing home to sleep in our bed…ha, now I got your attention. Actually they are old friends who are out there on the road playing music wherever they can spread a good word. They are the real thing, "desperate living" for the sake of others. Spreading truth in a country adrift in lies. Oh, they're called Mad Happy. Give em a google. There were a few things I missed unfortunately like a parade and a gig and a jazz funeral for democracy on inauguration day but my body is reeling from the changes in attitudes and latitudes and you just can't be everywhere, no matter how hard some of us try. If I could be everywhere then I would certainly visit all of you and sit with you find out what you're dreaming these days and enjoy your presence, and maybe give you a present, and then, I would sleep on your couch. Well, until that lovely day may peace surround you in whatever world you occupy. My dream schedule for the next few time units is, New Orleans, Florida, Alabama, Atlanta, New York, London, Leeds, Prague by March 21(my 37th). As always these are just guesses at what the universe really has in store for me and of course there is no budget or solid evidence that any of this will happen, but blind faith contains freedom and power beyond our imaginings. Freedom IS free, but don't take it from me, see for yourself. Hope to see you out there… Thankfully, |
