your dreams belong to you. they are your invisible shield to the real world. they give you comfort and purpose. but they are complacent and lazy, like dark rich fruit that cares not if it is eaten or if it falls to the rotten earth, and if we let our dreams hang too long, they will fall and fade away. life is about life. life is not about work. yes, contrary to everything the industrial revolution and the american way drives into our heads. our lives belong to us and us only. its hard to remember. we hurry through everything. we never see the things that we want to see or do the things we want to do because were to busy planning how we will pay for them. we give a little paper power over us. and if its not paper that bothers us its just plain fear of loosing everything we worked so hard to get. its a brilliant trap. not trying to preach. i'm just as afraid as everyone else. i don't have it all figured out by any means so ill leave you in the hands of the wise. but first, let me say it again. life is about life. life is not about work. "if we could feel the seriousness of our own imagination, we wouldn't need rationalizations in order to make life decisions without guilt, and our decisions wouldn't feel so incomplete if we made them soulfully, granting authority to the intuitions and expressions that come to us from within" ~thomas moore "life is what goes on around us whilst we make other plans." ~john lennon "argue for you limitations and sure enough, they're yours." ~richard bach "the lust for comfort murders the passion of the soul and then walks grinning in the funeral." ~kahil gibran " i live in my dreams. other people likewise live in dreams, but not their own;that's the difference" ~hermann hesse |
